Keep up to date on the happenings at the Murphy's

6-8-04  Unfortunately we have returned to reality from an absolutely awesome trip to Stonington and Isle au Haut, Maine.  It was very difficult to pack up and leave the lighthouse on this little island paradise.  Pictures posted in Maine 2004.

6-1-04  The painters have been hard at work and are close to finishing.  The walls have the final color on them which really brightened the place up.  The cabinets and counters have been installed and look great!  We can't wait to start cooking in this kitchen.

5-18-04  The siding is finally on and it looks great!  The Brazilian cherry floor has also been installed but not sealed yet.  They are now working on doors and trim, tile on Friday.  The cabinets are scheduled for June 1 and the appliances a week after that.  The situation with electricity should be coming to an end as the correct maps are now filed and hopefully CL&P will be out soon to pull the cable.

4-27-04  We are back from Hilton Head and had a great time.  Lots of progress in our absence...the house is insulated and sheet-rocked and the taping has been started.  The hydro-air system has been installed as well.  It's amazing to see how much different it looks with the walls in place.  Check out the pictures in House Progress 2.

4-17-04  During a very busy week at the house site the builders made some good progress.  The well has been installed, the air handler for the first floor and the ductwork to go with it are in, the opening from the living room to the garage attic has been cut, the garage floor was poured and we insulated the interior walls of the bathrooms for acoustic reasons.  The rest of the insulation was supposed to be installed yesterday but we have not confirmed that yet.  We can't wait to see the siding go on in the next week or two!

4-5-04  The framers put the wall between the garage and the basement in and installed the doors and window for the walkout.  The electrician has almost completed the rough electrical and we installed all the wiring for the 15 data drops, the surround sound, the kitchen speakers and the outdoor speakers yesterday.  New pictures posted in the House Progress 2 album!

4-3-04  The basement floor was poured this week and the rough electrical has been installed.  The plumbing inspection is complete and the kitchen layout done.  More pictures coming soon!

3-12-04  Still no new pictures (I had the camera yesterday but forgot to take pics).  We met with the electrician to go over lighting and switches.  He may start the install on Saturday.  The master shower and main shower and bath tub are installed and the rest of the rough plumbing is progressing well.  The ducts for HVAC have been installed on the second floor and the appliances have been ordered.  We also met with the cabinet makers and selected a Mission style in White Birch for all of the cabinets and vanities.  We have not received a drawing yet but when we do I will post it.  I will be creating a second house progress album for all the work from this point to keep the pictures more manageable and allow the albums to load faster.  There will be pictures added to the old album when all of the doors, windows and siding are installed completing the exterior.

3-01-04 The progress on the house has slowed a bit as we wait for material to arrive.  Some of the doors have come in and about half of the stairs as well.  There are no new pictures of the house but I have added a new album from our hike yesterday.  Hopefully we sill see some action this week and have more pictures of the house to post next weekend.

2-15-04 The framing is mostly done now and the roof went on.  We chose a very dark high definition architectural shingle that should go nicely with the red siding.  The doors and windows should be going in soon.  We will have a 6 panel front door with a transom window above it and the windows will be 12 over 12 divided lites.  These features coupled with the overall colonial design should give us the old house look we are going for.

2-8-04 The second floor is going up.  The outside walls have been framed and the bracing has been removed from the interior of the first floor.  The weather looks good for this week so we hope to see some real progress...maybe even the roof and windows. ;-)

2-1-04 The Guestbook is finally working.  Please feel free to submit you comments.  The entry form is at the bottom of the page.  I will try to rearrange that so it's more convenient.

1-31-04  Framing of the first floor is nearly complete.  There is a lot of cross bracing inside the house right now due to high winds.  The braces make it difficult to get a good look at the layout but the pictures have been posted anyway.

1-18-04  Framing has started on the house.  New pictures have been posted in the House Progress album.

12-14-03  We have a foundation!!!  New pictures posted from today as the snow started to fall from the second storm of the winter.

12-10-03  A few more pictures posted today...the foundation forms are being constructed.  The foundation should be poured in the next day or 2!  Also...the farm page is up at http://www.westberryfarm.com but won't have a whole lot going on until after the holidays when I have time to work on it.

12-6-03  So the footings were poured on Thursday last week but we have not been up there to see them yet so there are no pictures.  The kicker is we had this lovely winter storm come through today and now there is a foot of snow on the ground and another 6" expected before it all pulls out.  Needless to say the pictures of the footings at this point will be very white but will be here none the less tomorrow.

12-1-2003  Some of the recipes have been posted but password protected to keep them in the family.  If you would like to have access please e-mail me.  The footings are supposed to go into the ground today so I will try to get pictures before it gets dark and have them posted but don't hold your breath.
